Aye Chihuahua Birthday!

Hello! Today I'm showing you a card I recently sent to a co-worker for her birthday. She lives in Florida and heck, compared to where I live and most of the rest of the country, it's tropical. After all those snow related Christmas projects, a little warmth was a nice change of pace!

This card features a cute chihuahua puppy from KaDoodle Bug Designs. The file is appropriately called Aye Chihuahua. It came with the puppy, glass and limes. I utilized the Print Then Cut feature of my Silhouette Portrait machine to print the graphic on my printer and cut it out. I made an extra nose and set of paws and put them on foam tape to give him a 3D appearance. I liked the name of the file so well, I used it for the card sentiment.

The card base was 5.5" square. On top of the base are two mats. The first is white and the second is a lime green and white polka dot paper. On top of that, I created another 2 piece mat of matching green card stock and a lime print paper. Now I have to tell you that the lime printed paper has to be8-10 years old. I have had this small piece in my scrap file so long because I just thought it was cute. I'm pretty sure I got it from my cousin Shannon when we scrap booked once a week many years ago. I am so happy I finally found something to use it on and it was perfect for this card!

Here's a close up of the dog and glass rim. I used white glitter to give the appearance of salt on the rim. For additional interest and bling, I added lime gems on both the front and interior of the card.

The interior white mat was cut with the sunburst pattern and I placed a piece of lime green card stock under it and a gem in the middle. This was a super easy way to get a bigger impact for the interior sentiment. The star burst cut is from Cricut.
I have another cute little birthday card coming up for you next time and then it's back to Christmas before it's gone. Wow. Time is flying by as usual and it's hard to believe there's only a couple weeks left. I better get shopping! Have a great day and until next time, happy crafting!
