Are you a fan of Art Deco? I am. I like the clean lines, patterns and colors associated with the Art Deco theme. Today I’ve made a card using the Hero Arts Deco Arts Thank You Kit. This is an older kit but since I’m all about using what I have, I thought it would be fun to take it out and create with it.
I started by cutting the kit art deco die twice with CutCardstock Silver Cardstock. This is not a stiff paper so I realized it would be great as a card wrap. After cutting, I scored each piece ¼” from the edge so I could fold an edge over that I could glue to an A2 sized Curious Metallic Gold Leaf cardstock panel. The glitter cardstock is thin and pliable and looks like it's coated with glitter but it doesn't shed and cuts well. It's so pretty it's actually kind of hard to use! How silly is that? I guess that's why some of us hoard paper right?!
I stamped the bird four of the flower designs and the sentiment on to watercolor paper. I colored the designs by first smooshing ink from my zig clean color markers onto a craft mat. After lightly spraying with water, I used the markers to pick up the ink to paint. I used lavenders, blues and yellow.
Next, I used my Brother ScanNCut to cut the images out. You could fussy cut them as well. I cut out the sentiment and a background vellum piece with dies from my stash.
Then I glued the top two flowers to the card. I glued the sentiment and then I placed the bottom flowers with double-side foam tape to give some lift. I placed the bird on the vellum using double-sided tape and then glued the vellum with the bird on top with glue, making sure that the glue was put under the bird so it doesn’t show through the vellum.
Once the panel was complete, I used liquid glue to attach it to a cream card base.
I thought I’d show the inside of my card this time. I usually put in a liner just like the cards you would purchase. It’s a light weight white paper folded and glued only on the side that touches the card front. It’s just such a nice way to finish a card. In my opinion, it makes it seem much richer and professional when finished inside this way.
