Hello CutCardStock fans! Do you dream of a white Christmas? I live in the Carolinas so snow for Christmas is highly unlikely but I was born and raised in the upper Midwest and know what I'm missing - the good, bad and ugly of snow!

My project today highlights what I envision is the peace and happiness a soft white layer of snow can offer along with a welcoming door where friends, family or others we know and love will greet us. This year, more than ever, being among those we love the most is a real challenge. The door set in a snowy scene is my tribute to all those I love and the fact that I know they are just waiting behind a door that will soon fling wide open and envelope me in love and fellowship. I feel confident that most of us are anxiously waiting for that time to come.

I am not an artist so I need a little help to be artsy! I started this mini watercolor with a stamp from Art Impression aptly named Wooden Door. I stamped it using Zig Clear Color pens and then used a brush and water to drag the colors from the stamp impression into the image. Some ask what watercolor paper I use. I prefer Canon XL cold press paper. As a bonus, this paper works equally well on colored pencils so it's a great option for the craft room. For some areas, I mixed marker ink and water on a mat with my brush and painted with it. When it was completed and dry, I used a white glaze Gelly Roll pen to add additional snow dots. I love using the glaze pen for this because they dry slightly dimensional and with a very shiny surface. I added prisma glitter with Art Glitter Glue which dries clear above the door and on the tree, wood and threshhold. Once all of that was dry, I cut it out using a 3 1/8" nested torn edge circle die from Crafter's Companion.

I prepped all the other pieces for the card while I waited for the watercolor panel to completely dry. I cut an A2 sized panel in CutCardStock Silver Foil cardstock with a Lawn Fawn die. From Stardream Metallic Saphire, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out with snow holes from an Avery Elle die called Let It Snow. I backed that with a piece of Pop Tone Sweet Tooth white cardstock so that the white appears as snow through the holes cut into the blue cardstock. I also cut a slightly larger circle from the die set and a mat for the sentiment out of Stardream Metallic Lagoon. Before assembling the card, I stamped and heat embossed a silver sentiment using Ranger Detail Super Fine Silver powder on more Pop Tones Sweet Tooth cardstock that reads, "From our home to yours." Then I glued the sentiment on to the mat.

I thought the saphire panel needed a greater snow effect so I sprayed it with white Dylusions Shimmer Spray in White Linen. It really added the snowy texture I had envisioned for this card. Stardream Metallic cardstock has a beautiful finish from mica crystal particles on both sides. Though it's called metallic, it's not a mirror-like finish. It's more similar to a brushed metallic finish and it almost glows.

Once everything was dry I assembled the card. Up close, you can better see the snowy effects that I had hoped for.

To finish this card, I added silver snow sequins and small pearl bling from Eyelet Outlet. I liked this one so much I made three total - one to keep and the other two for my sister and mom who live in North Dakota where they don't have to imagine what snow looks or feels like!
