Hello crafty frieds! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and got to spend some time with at least some of the people that you care the most about.

We're experiencing some cold weather in the Charlotte area and it got me to thinking of warmer days and trips to tropical places we've visited in our past. I love that no matter the theme, Eyelet Outlet has the topic covered. Today is a perfect example. I decuded  to do a jungle themed card because I have a great stamp set from Hero Arts in that theme that I could leverage. And of course Eyelet Outlet had the perfect brads and washi tape for what I had in mind.

I started by applying Giraffe Washi Tape on a kraft 4" x 5 1/4" panel in strips until it was covered. To get smooth edges, I folded over the raw tape edges to the back of the panel. Then I wanted to create circles to hold the elephant, giraffe and ape brads from the Jungle Mix Brad Set. I covered a small piece of white cardstock with Safari Foil Washi tape and cut 3/4" circles out of it. Then I set one of the animal brads in each circle.

The next steps were to cut the sentiment pieces out of green cardstock and vellum and heat emboss them with Hero Arts detail black and white embossing powders. I cut a long rectangle out of a piece of jungle leaf cardstock I had on hand and a 1" strip out of green metallic papers using my deckle edge cutting blade. I stacked these together on the right side of the card. On top of that, I attached the rest of the pieces. I thought the lower left corner looked a little bare so I stamped and cut out a couple tropical plants from the same jungle stamp set that I got the sentiments from. Any jungle-looking die cut or stamp would work for this.

I hope you enjoyed a tropical themed card after all the Christmas projects. I know it felt pretty good to do something a little different for a change.

Have a great week and Happy New Year to you!

Happy New Year!

Hello craft friends. I'm sure you'll agree that we are all thankful that 2020 is soon on the way out. As a wise person said, 2020 stinks, stank, stunk! Time to move on to what is sure to be a much better year.

To make this card, I started by covering a panel with the very pretty Glitter Star Tape and then I cut out the ray pattern using a die from Hero Arts. I also cut out a branch from a die in my collection and a red sentiment label from cardstock. Assembly was really easy. I glued the glittered piece on to a silver foil card base. The center oval piece cuts out with the die so I was able to separately work with the center. I glued the branch down on the oval and placed the Cardinal Profile Brad on the branch and then glued the finished oval to the center of the card. I stamped and heat embossed a white new year greeting on the red label and put Red Mini Round Brads on each side before mounting it on the card with foam tape. The last touches were two white and one red sequin. There are so many things you can do with this basic ray pattern.

Check out the Eyelet Outlet Store for all your brad, washi tape and bling supplies! Have a wonderful week!

Five Cards With The Hero Arts January 2020 Card Kit

Hello my friends! I'm here today to share with you five cards I made with the fabulous January My Monthly Hero Card kit. The theme is all things floral, specifically die cut florals. In addition to the many floral dies, the kit includes a sentiment flag die and two wonderful dies that have all kinds of uses - a small envelope and a bouquet wrap. The 4 x 6 stamp set has many sentiments to fit the sentiment flag die. They cover a variety of occasions. There are also several stamps that fit the mailing theme such as a cancelled stamp and a stamp image.

The kit comes with 6 1/2 sheets of shimmer paper in dark pink, light pink and blush. There are also 2 half sheets of heavy duty kraft cardstock. The kit also comes this month with pink sparkle embossing powder, pink satin ribbon and a generously sized Aqua glimmer metallic ink.

Happy Cards-Featuring Resist Coloring and Cricut Explore

Happy Saturday everyone! This week's video shows you how to create the Happy die cut shown on a set of six cards I made as a gift. It's easy to manipulate stock images in Cricut Design space into something entirely different. The image I started with actually looked like this.

These cards are A2 size, 4.25" x 5.5". The background was created by stamping a background with Versamark ink and heat embossing it with clear embossing powder. Momento ink was then applied heavier at one end, gradually lightening to white at the top. The embossing resists the ink and reveals the background stamp while showing off an ombre effect. Easy! Just apply the ink with a sponge and lighten the amount used as you go from the bottom to the top.

The next step is to cut the Happy phrase in Design space (after manipulating the Happy Birthday phrase to the shape shown in the project). I used various words in the rectangle part of the die cut so that they read, Happy Birthday, Happy Thoughts, So Happy Together, Happy Dance, Happy for You and Happy Thoughts.

To finish each card, I applied the die cut, added a cork heart and a red embroidery thread bow. I actually made two of each card and made two sets of 6 cards to give as gifts.

Thanks for joining me today. I'll see you again on Wednesday when it's my turn to post for CottageCutz. I've got a super cute card with a camping theme for you!

Supplies used for this project:
Hero Arts Stamp & Cuts Set called Happy Stamp & Cut
Various Memento ink pads
White card stock to form the card base and card mat
Background Stamps:
Rubbernecker Stamps - Victorian Diamond Panel
Stampabilities Wood Stamp - Typewriter Background

You Make Me So Happy Card

Happy weekend! I hope you had a great week. The weather has been super nice here in the middle 60's to low 70's most days. The bad news is that the pollen is crazy and most people are sneezing, blowing their noses and dealing with sore throats, me included! Crazily, it might actually snow on Sunday morning but if it does, it's not going to last the day. It'll be pretty though. We'll see what happens. I need to figure out a way to cover my flower boxes because the pansies are beyond gorgeous right now and I don't want freezing temps to set them back.

Today's project is a cheerful card that could be given for several different occasions. It could easily be a thank you card, a love note to a spouse or child or even as a note of encouragement. I found myself calling this my raspberry sorbet card. It's so bright and cheerful, I dare you not to smile!

This is an A2 sized card and I used the Avery Elle steel die set called Custom Panels. The happy sentiment is from the Hero Arts Stamp & Cuts set. Both sets are versatile and in the video I walk you through the many pieces and what they could be used for. You'll also find an easy hint on how to get your paper to come out of detailed dies easily instead of sticking like they naturally tend to do.

The typewriter resist background was heat embossed and then I applied ink heavy at the bottom of the card and worked it up lighter and lighter to the top. This created an ombre effect that makes the card really work. I applied the angled vellum panel to the bottom corner and used the sentiment tag to secure it so it stays in place but doesn't show glue anywhere. Finally the glitter confetti pieces balance the whole card out and gives it a little pop.
